Minotaur

The Minotaur musical journey kicked into gear in the 1980s as a graff artist and hip-hop vinyl collector. Pause-button ghetto blaster mix tapes featuring everything from acid house to rave anthems to the sounds of Detroit were the order of the day. The likes of Blapps Posse, Break The Limits, Shut Up And Dance, Reinforced Records, Frankie Bones, Lenny D, Tommy Musto, not to mention all the emerging new jungle sounds were big favourites.

Several jobs and an Honours degree in Graphics preceded the first Minotaur jungle productions, which came together with the help of a friend and some old equipment held together with gaffer tape. Influences from film, music, art, literature, comedy and local geology have inspired Minotaur, but he specifically cites the legendary John Peel and Suburban Knight's 'The Art of Stalking' as hugely important.

After many years of trial-and-error music production and armed with a Windows 98 computer bearing a meagre 256Mb of RAM, Minotaur has been hard at work in his labyrinth evolving soundscapes and pushing the boundaries of his music. Proving that it's not all about having a super computer with the latest plug-ins, he is turning heads with his unique bullish sound. Minotaur's debut track 'Worlds Beyond' was released on the Med School double pack "New Blood" in March 2008.

Martsman

German-born Martin 'Martsman' Heinze is yet another fine addition to growing list of worldwide Med School graduates. Early musical exploits came through co-running net-label Plainaudio which aims to provide a platform for electronic music with a focus on leftfield and experimental d&b.

Martsman's first vinyl excursion "Ago" arrived on an Offshore Recordings/Commercial Suicide split 12 inch in 2005, perforating just about any discerning eardrum with its off-centre and deviantly calibrated construction. "That track was my attempt to integrate my own vocabulary of sounds into Drum&Bass music" recalls Martin, "a framework in which I consider anything goes." A philosophy echoed in his DJ sets and very much shared by Med School.

Several releases later including outings on Counter Intelligence and Alphacut Recordings, Martsman has honed his skills and demonstrates some damaging efficiency on Med School. The bludgeoning monster track "Worst Case Scenario" is out now on the "New Blood" EP and there's more glitch-step madness to come... keep it locked!!

Craggz

Craggz has been involved in the music industry for over 15 years. He commenced his musical venture at the age of 14, playing guitar for bands around his home town Newcastle. In 1991 Craggz accompanied a friend to an early Rezerection and heard the likes of Grooverider and Evil Eddy Richards. Spinning a selection of early house and breakbeat grooves Craggz was hooked! Replacing his guitar with an old Atari ST and an Akai sampler, Craggz lost himself in technology.

After forging a successful collaborating with Parallel Forces, the big break for Craggz came in 2004 when the trio were snapped up by Valve. Hit singles ensued, including "Love Insane" and the massive summer anthem "Fizzy Piglets". Debut album "Northern Soul" was released on Dillinja's imprint in 2006 to rave reviews and a live project hit the ground running with landmark performances from Xtra Bass (BBC 1Xtra) and Maida Vale (BBC Radio 1).

Craggz has extensively toured both at home and abroad, building a solid reputation with hair-raising sets taking in all styles of drum & bass and is a regular at leading events such as Valve and Hospitality. The sixth installment on Med School "My Detroit" / "Flick The Switch" is available now!

Fracture & Neptune

Med School's Intergalactic new signings Fracture & Neptune are making drum & bass that is out of this world

North East London duo of Charlie & Nelson have known each other for 10 years. Meeting at college where they started making tunes, sharing their love for breaks, drum and bass and rave music. It wasn't long before Danny Breaks picked up a tune by Charlie & Nelson and signed it to Droppin Science, this success was followed up as Paradox and Inperspective also signed up F & N tunes.

Part of a strong collective of DJs and Producers through there links with club night Technicality, Fracture and Neptune continue to make breathtaking drum and bass. "Ventura" on Med School is a prime example of their space age sound that has got people talking from forums like Subvert Central right through to big supporter Flight on 1Xtra. Zero gravity drum and bass!

S.P.Y

With most fellow 12 year old Brazilians kicking footballs round bare feet, Carlos Lima a.k.a S.P.Y was already behind the turntables. With his Dad on the mic taking latino requests at fun fairs, young Carlos selected the tunes!

Hailing from Sao Paulo, Brazil's capital of d&b, S.P.Y comes from the same beats classroom as Marky, Patife and Drumagik. Whilst studying and working in graphic design it was Hospital's very own Zac Vibes who booked him for his 1st night in London, at Camden's Lock 17 (Dingwalls). New to D&B and creating tunes influenced by technos Dave Clarke and more recently Hospital's own Cambridge 4 anthem "When Pilots Eject" it only took Carlos 6 months as a producer before Goldie got on the phone and snapped up his first release for the Metalheadz imprint! Following that with his track "Black Flag" launching Hospital's new Med School imprint, S.P.Y is officially hot property!

Refusing to sling his tunes all over the place and locking down to two of the most forward thinking labels in the business expect to hear a lot more from this Brazilian as Med School takes us on more and more dancefloor operations!

Randomer

If you met someone influenced by abandoned warehouses, decaying industrial buildings, jazz, metal, flamenco, electronic and psychedelic music you might say it's a bit random. Born in 1986, music has always been close to the heart of North Londoner Rohan 'Randomer' Walder. Inspired by the likes of John Lee Hooker and Jimi Hendrix, a young Rohan dedicated most of his time to playing the guitar and learning music theory. Eager to dip into as many musical styles as possible, he has listened to everything from American jazz saxophonist John Coltrane to the electronic anarchy of Aphex Twin.

As a teenager Rohan discovered drum & bass by listening to London radio stations Rude FM and Origin FM. Using Cubase, he combined his eclectic guitar skills with a love for technology and started writing music with an electronic twist. In 2004, Leeds University was the destination where the quest for musical knowledge was facilitated by achieving a first in Popular & World Music.

On returning to London, Randomer stepped up his production by transforming his diverse musical influences into something truly original. The result is a dubstep double pack forthcoming on Audio Freaks and an arsenal of fresh drum & bass. Ably assisted by the REDS collective (specifically DJ DL), Med School unleashed this exciting young talent on the d&b community in March 2008 with the face melting stomper "Autonomy".

Infiltrata

Born in Los Angeles in 1982, John Dadzie aka Infiltrata prescribes a transatlantic flavour to Med School. Growing up in the south of the city, John's musical apprenticeship began in his high school days by playing in bands and regularly attending raves and jungle parties. The turning point came when he formed Imperial Recordings with DJ Lith, a stepping stone for John to excel in a field of production and management.

The Infiltrata profile skyrocketed thanks to support from Boxed Agency UK and John hot-footed it across the Atlantic stepping into the European dance circuit. He was able to catch the attention of big players in the d&b community with releases on Cartel, Renegade Hardware, Tech Itch, Barcode, Cymbalism, and Uprising. Infiltrata has forged successful collaborations with heavy hitting d&b artists such as Spor, Limewax, Concord Dawn, Evol Intent and Mayhem. He also joined forces with Dave 'Hochi' Weston, producing a telling remix of the massive Photek single "Sidewinder". On the back this he later helped establish the TEKDBZ label, a subsidiary of Photek Productions.

Infiltrata expresses himself as an artist in multiple genres including dubstep, electro and hip-hop; a fitting backdrop for any Med School beat surgeon. Donning his white overalls, Infiltrata has his scalpels sharpened and is ready to operate. The frantically heavy beats and hooks on display in "Psalm 24" are available as part of the "New Blood" EP.

Icicle

Icicle aka Jeroen Snik represents Med School's Dutch contigent. At the Age of 8 Icicle first started playing piano and soon got onto the drum kit. It wasn't long until he started making beats using an old school midi set-up and aged 15 he became hooked on drum and bass after going to local night "Jungle Galaxy". Getting some turntables and better music making software followed and Icicle was on his way.

Icicle takes inspiration from the dirty basslines of the likes of Jonny L and Optical and the intricate drum patterns of Photek & Source Direct. With this approach Icicle's tech funk sounds have quickly earned him DJ support from Fabio, London Elektricity, DJ Flight and Commix no less. Quickly realising the ice man's massive potential Med School has snapped up this flying Dutchman, keep it firmly locked!

CLS

Polish maestro CLS is the latest addition to the Med School imprint. Early CLS productions go back 7 years, and were full of ambient sounds, far from the d'n'b styles he's making today. The latest CLS tracks have caught the attention of the Med School selectors with some tougher, darker, future sounds.

CLS has appeared on Hospital in the past working with production partner Wax, contributing uplifting feelgood anthems to the Weapons of Mass Creation series. He has also gained a great reputation & success on a host of other d&b imprints in recent months.

Into 2006, "Black And White" and "Tell Me What You Want" represent CLS's most daring work yet. Like all the artists on Med School he gets the scalpel out and cuts deep, dancefloors and patients beware!
